Thoughts on Obergefell v. Hodges

Below are some thoughts on Obergefell v. Hodges.

“Everything has changed and nothing has changed”, to quote the title of an article by Dr. Albert Mohler, where he writes that “the Supreme Court, like every human institution and individual, will eventually face two higher courts [History and Divine Judgment]” (Mohler, Everything Has Changed and Nothing Has Changed – The Supreme Court Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage).

“We have a God who is sovereign. The Supreme Court can do many things, but the Supreme Court cannot get Jesus Christ back into the grave” (Russell Moore, Reaction To The Supreme Court Decision on Same-Sex Marriage).

“First, no one refusing to repent of sin — be it homosexuality or fornication or anything else — will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9–10).
But history shows us that those who want a different Jesus — the one who says, ‘Do whatever you want with your body, it’s okay by me’ — don’t want Christianity at all” (Russell Moore, Same-Sex Marriage and the Future).

I commend Dr. Mohler’s book, We Cannot Be Silent: Speaking Truth to a Culture Redefining Sex, Marriage, and the Very Meaning of Right and Wrong.

I also commend listening to this 9Marks interview with Rosaria Butterfield, who used to be a tenured English professor, an activist, and a lesbian. Now, she’s a pastor’s wife, a mom, and a Christian.
