Wisdom For A New School Semester From Harvard Founders

Last night, I came across a quote from 1636 by the founders of Harvard University. I hope that students beginning a new semester (and anyone for that matter), could read this and invest their time with wisdom:
“Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life (John 17:3) and therefore to lay Christ in the bottom as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisdom, let everyone seriously set himself by prayer in secret to seek it of Him (Prov 2,3).”

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.” – Proverbs 3:13-14

As Harvard graduate (1880) and former American President (1901-1909) Theodore Roosevelt put it: “A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.”
